Beyond Stability is an independent publication launched in January 2026 by Jup. The aim of this blog is to discuss topics relating to security, defense, foreign, and development policy developments with relevance to Germany and Europe.

I started writing posts on LinkedIn a few years ago. But I was increasingly irritated by the fact that my posts could no longer be found after two years at the latest. Furthermore, it was not possible to collect my thoughts in one central location and refer to previous posts. And LinkedIn as many other social media platforms limit the possibility to express oneself by a limit of 3,000 characters per post. Oftentimes, this was more than enough. But occassionally, complex thoughts need more space. Therefore, this space serves as an unlimited repository for my thoughts, which other readers may also find helpful or interesting.

Recurring themes in the past were rearmament and conscription in Germany & Europe, military readiness of the German Federal Armed Forces and other European armed forces, hybrid threats, resilience, and intelligence as well as a comprehensive approach regarding security, stability and resilience - and a little bit of Clausewitz.
